Carlos A. Coello Coello (M’98–SM’04–F’11) received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Tulane University, USA, in 1996.,He is currently a Professor (CINVESTAV-3F Researcher) with the Computer Science Department, Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico, Mexico. He has authored and co-authored over 450 technical papers and book chapters. His publications currently report over 40000 citations in Google Scholar with an H-index of 79. His current research interests include evolutionary multiobjective optimization and constraint-handling techniques for evolutionary algorithms.

Dr. Coello Coello is a member of ACM, Sigma Xi, and the Mexican Academy of Science. He was a recipient of, the 2007, National Research Award from the Mexican Academy of Sciences in exact sciences, the 2012, National Medal of Science and Arts in physical, mathematical and natural sciences, the 2013, IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award, and the 2016, The World Academy of Sciences Award in engineering sciences. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation. He serves on the Editorial Board of several other international journals.
